Geometric finishes
1
Cylindrical finish
Diagram of a cylindrical-finish roller (Ø d, Ø D, thickness e) — Soremag, expert in rubber and polyurethane eØ dØ D
  • The core (iron) diameter is usually called Ø d
  • The covered diameter is usually called Ø D
  • The covering thickness is called e
  • Ø D = Ø d + (2 × e)
2
Parabolic crown(or convex crown)
Parabolic (convex) crowned roller — rubber and polyurethane covering, Soremag expert in roller finishingØ D
  • The crown is given relative to Ø D
3
Hyperbolic crown(or concave crown)
Hyperbolic (concave) crowned roller — Soremag, expert in rubber and polyurethaneØ D
  • The crown is given relative to Ø D
4
Biconical finish
Biconical-finish roller — rubber and polyurethane, Soremag expert in roller coveringØ D
  • The taper is given relative to Ø D
  • Example: 2 mm/D taper
5
Cylindro-biconical finish(or flat + crown)
Cylindro-biconical finish roller (flat + crown) — Soremag, expert in rubber and polyurethaneLPØ D
  • The length LP defines the flat
  • The tapers are defined relative to Ø D
6
Undercut (relief)
Roller with undercut / relief (Ø D1, Ø D2, flat LP) — Soremag, expert in rubber and polyurethaneLPD2D1
  • Ø D1 defines the covering diameter
  • Ø D2 defines the undercut diameter
  • The length LP defines the flat
Grooving & chamfers
1
Longitudinal grooving
Rubber roller with longitudinal grooving — Soremag, expert in rubber and polyurethane
  • To specify: number of starts
  • To specify: groove profile
2
Transverse grooving(or circumferential)
Rubber roller with transverse (circumferential) grooving — Soremag, expert in rubber and polyurethane
  • To specify: number of starts (pitch)
  • To specify: groove profile
3
Helical grooving(or spiral)
Rubber roller with helical (spiral) grooving — rubber and polyurethane, Soremag expert in rollers
  • To specify: number of starts (pitch)
  • To specify: pitch
  • To specify: direction
  • To specify: groove profile
4
Spreader (chevron)
Spreader roll with chevron grooves (center to edges), modified-chevron option — Soremag, expert in rubber and polyurethanecenter20°20°Modified chevron (spreader)
  • Spreader roll: chevron grooves running from the center to each edge, to spread and de-wrinkle the web
  • Angle ≈ 20° · 1/4″ × 1/4″ profile (indicative)
  • Indicative spacing: 2″ (Ø ≥ 8″) · 1″ (Ø < 8″) — direction of rotation to specify
  • Variant: modified chevron — spreader (see inset)
5
Diamond grooving
Rubber roller with diamond grooving (double chevron), sheds water and debris — Soremag, expert in rubber and polyurethane
  • Diamond pattern (double chevron) — sheds water and debris, anti-slip
  • 1/4″ × 1/4″ profile (indicative)
  • To specify: pitch and groove profile
6
Chamfers
Roller with chamfers (h × w or angle × w) — rubber and polyurethane, Soremag expert in roller finishingchamfer = h × w or angle × w
  • To specify: either height × width (e.g. 2 × 2 chamfer)
  • To specify: or angle × width (e.g. 5 at 45° chamfer)
