At Soremag, every job counts: our field — roll covering, molding and precision machining — is highly specialized. If you want your work to be valued and to really contribute, you will find the makings of a real career here, not just a job.
At Soremag, we do not just offer you a job — we offer you the chance to make it a trade.
Roll covering, molding and precision machining are highly specialized fields: few people master them, which means the people who invest themselves in them quickly become indispensable. If you want to be valued for your work and to have the chance to really contribute, you will be able to build a long-term career here, not simply hold a position.
We are a team on a human scale, where we know each other by first name and where expertise passes from one person to the next. It is technically demanding, but that is also one of the reasons people stay with us for a long time.
From raw material to finished part, everything happens under one roof. Here are the main trade families that make that possible.
Mold setup and preparation, hot casting of polyurethane, demolding, deflashing and post-cure. You follow the part from the mix to the visual inspection, holding the temperatures and the times the formulation calls for. This is the way into the trade: training is done in-house and no molding experience is required. What we look for is care and consistency.
Turning and milling new steel cores, building and reworking molds, and repairing bearing journals: weld buildup — TIG, MIG and other processes — then back to tolerance. On conventional and CNC lathes, working from drawings with calipers and micrometers. This is the job where a few thousandths of an inch show up on the finished part.
Precision grinding of covered rollers and wheels: diameter, crown, taper, concentricity and surface finish. Helical, axial or diamond grooving to the drawing, then dynamic balancing. You work with a dial indicator and a durometer, to the thousandth of an inch. Many of our grinding hands come out of machining; the rest is learned here, on our own machines.
Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on lathes, grinders and casting equipment. Mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical: our machines are varied and often modified in-house, and no two calls are alike. When a machine stops, production waits — it is a role where you see the effect of your work right away.
Dimensional control and documentation at every step: Shore A and D hardness at several points across the face, runout (TIR) with a dial indicator, surface roughness (Ra), diameter with a Pi Tape, taper, conformance to drawing. You check incoming material, the part in process and the finished product — and you sign the file that travels with the part to the customer.
Taking in requests, opening work orders, following up on quotes, orders and shipments. You are the link between the customer and the floor: you are the one who knows where every part stands, and who calls the customer before they have to ask.
Go look at the machine, not just the purchase order. The sales rep goes into the plant, examines the worn roller, talks to the operator and records the real conditions at that position — speed, load, chemistry, temperature — then comes back with a compound and durometer recommendation. It is a field role, for someone who wants to understand an application before proposing a solution and who is comfortable in a plant.
More than diplomas, we are looking for people ready to invest themselves in a specialized field.
