Custom manufacturing for OEMs, industrial machinery and specialty equipment

Do you design, build or maintain machines? Soremag makes and refurbishes covered rollers, wheels and cast polyurethane parts — from your drawings, from a sample, or from a function to reproduce. An OEM part you cannot find, a prototype, a small run or a roller to put back in service: we help you define the material, the durometer, the geometry and the finish.

Your elastomer partner, from a one-off part to a small production run

Machine builders, integrators and owners of specialty equipment often have needs that a standard part will not solve: an unusual size, a small quantity, a discontinued part, a worn roller or a functional improvement to make.

At Soremag, we cover rollers and wheels in rubber or polyurethane, and we make cast polyurethane parts — to your drawings, from a sample, or through reverse engineering. Because we make our molds in-house, we can support prototypes and small production runs. The right choice does not depend only on the size: it depends on the actual

function
— load, speed, abrasion, impact, chemistry, temperature, tolerances and target service life.

Solutions built for machine builders

OEM

Manufacturing to your drawings

Covered rollers and polyurethane parts built into your equipment, from your files (STEP, IGES, DXF) or specifications.

Équipements spécialisés

Niche machines

One-off parts, modified equipment, components that are hard to replace with something standard.

Prototypes

Prototypes & small production runs

Molds made in-house: validate and iterate before you freeze the design, without the expensive tooling of plastic injection.

Obsolescence

Reverse Engineering

Reproduction from a sample or a drawing when the OEM part is slow, expensive or discontinued — with possible improvement.

Pré-étirage

Pallet wrappers (stretch wrappers)

Pre-stretch rollers — covered in detail on the dedicated product page.

Sur mesure

Based on the function

Describe the function (traction, guiding, damping, wear…): we steer the material, the durometer, the profile and the finish.

What we make and refurbish

Parts we can make (from a drawing, a sample or a function)

Covered rollers (rubber or polyurethane)

Drive, pressure, pull, guiding, conveying; custom durometer, profile, surface and grooving.

Wheels, guide rollers & casters

Covering on a metal core — a bonding polyurethane to metal — with solid metal-to-polyurethane adhesion for load and speed.

Bushings, spacers, sleeve bushings

Cast polyurethane fitting parts made to your dimensions.

Stops, bumpers, pads & wear pads

Impact absorption, frame protection, abrasion resistance.

Scrapers / blades, guides & cleats

Contact and guiding without marking, compounds matched to the process.

Sleeves (sleeves)

Fast replacement on the existing shaft, when the assembly allows it.

Pre-stretch rollers

For stretch wrappers; see the dedicated product page.

Reproduced OEM parts

Reverse Engineering from a sample or a drawing, with possible improvement.

Power transmission parts —

gears, sprockets, timing pulleys, couplings
— are validated technically before we quote.

Équipements d'emballage — enveloppeuses

Do you build or maintain stretch wrappers? Soremag makes and refurbishes

pre-stretch rollers
— primary and secondary — as OEM replacements or as refurbishment. Because this application has constraints of its own (traction, diameter, surface, machine compatibility, film behavior), it is covered on its own dedicated page.

See the Pre-stretch rollers page →

Materials: the chemistry follows the function

Depending on the application, we recommend different families of rubber and polyurethane.

Polyurethane (polyester / polyether)
— from soft to very hard, for abrasion, cutting, load, impact and (in polyether) moisture.
Rubbers
commonly used as the need dictates: EPDM, NBR, NBR/PVC, CR, SBR, NR, HNBR, CSM and silicone. The choice is made case by case according to load, speed, abrasion, chemistry, temperature and target durometer.
Tolerances:
parts delivered
as cast
for standard geometries, or
post-machined (grinding / turning)
for critical dimensions. Need help specifying? See the material selection guide.

What we like to receive to evaluate your request

  • Drawing, sketch or file (STEP, IGES, DXF)
  • A sample of the part or the existing roller
  • The function of the part and the current problem
  • Critical dimensions and tolerances
  • Target hardness (Shore A / D)
  • Load, speed, temperature
  • Chemistry / moisture / abrasion / impact
  • Quantity and replacement frequency

Frequently asked questions — OEM & custom work

Do you make parts from our drawings or CAD files? +

Yes — drawings, sketches or files (STEP, IGES, DXF). Feasibility depends on the geometry, the material, the tolerances, the quantity and the use. Parts delivered

as cast
(standard geometries) or
post-machined
(critical tolerances).

Do you do prototypes and small production runs? +

Yes, when the project suits roll covering or polyurethane molding. Our

molds made in-house
cost a fraction of plastic injection, which makes a prototype or a small run realistic. Lead times and quantities depend on the complexity, the tooling, the material and the finish.

Can you reproduce an OEM part that is no longer available? +

Yes, through reverse engineering : from a sample (even a worn one) or a drawing, we take the functional dimensions, we analyze the failure and we can propose an improvement (material, durometer, geometry).

Which cast polyurethane parts do you make? +

Wheels, guide rollers, casters, bushings, spacers, sleeve bushings, stops, bumpers, pads, wear pads, scrapers, blades, guides, cleats, sleeves.

Gears, sprockets, timing pulleys and couplings
have to be validated before we quote.

Do you make pre-stretch rollers for stretch wrappers? +

Yes, as OEM replacements or as refurbishment. See the dedicated pre-stretch rollers page.

How do you keep a roller from vibrating at high speed? +

With precision grinding (runout / TIR) and

dynamic balancing
to the required class — to protect the bearings and the quality.

How do you choose the material and the durometer? +

Based on the function: traction, abrasion, load, speed, pressure, impact, chemistry, temperature, moisture and service life. We steer toward the rubber or polyurethane family that fits the real conditions — see the materials guide.

A custom part, a prototype or an OEM part you cannot find?

Send us your drawings, a sample, or describe the function to be filled: we evaluate the right material, durometer, geometry and finish. Service in Quebec, Ontario and the Maritimes, with shipping available.
