Technical service on site

Some problems show up better on site, on a running line. We come to your plant to diagnose your rollers, take the measurements and handle the troubleshooting — to cut your downtime and set up the right solution.

When the shop comes to you

A roller that is hard to remove, a defect that only shows up in production, dimensions to take with no original drawing, or a line that is down: in these cases, one visit beats ten emails. Soremag comes to your site to

see, measure and act
, then set the right next step in motion — roll covering, grinding or reverse engineering. Service in Quebec, Ontario and the Maritimes. Before the visit, you can fill out our roller identification form to speed up the diagnosis.

When should you request an on-site visit?

These situations get settled faster when we come to you.

A defect that only shows up in production (vibration, wrinkles, marking)
Dimensions to be taken precisely, with no original drawing
A line that is down: an emergency assessment is needed
A roller that is heavy or hard to remove and ship
Several rollers to evaluate in one pass
Doubt about the root cause: we help settle it on site

What we do on site

Three services to see clearly, measure right and get production running again.

On-site diagnosis & inspection

We inspect your rollers and your equipment right on the line to spot thewear, the defects and their root causes : out-of-round, uneven wear, slippage, vibration, marking, poor nip contact. We leave with a clear finding and recommendations on material, hardness and finish.

Measurement survey & dimension taking

On site we take the dimensions, diameters, lengths, profiles and hardness of your rollers — with no drawing at all if need be. These readings feed straight into an accurate quote or a reverse engineering to reproduce (or improve) the part.

Troubleshooting & emergency response

Line down? We make the trip a priority so we can assess the situation fast and set the right solution in motion — repair, recovering or replacement — to cut your downtime as much as possible.

How a plant visit works

Simple and fast, from the call to taking the job on.

1

Your call

You describe the problem, the number of rollers and how urgent it is. We schedule the visit.

2

Visit & assessment

We come on site to inspect, diagnose and understand the root cause on the line.

3

Survey & recommendation

We take the dimensions that matter and recommend the right material, hardness, profile and finish.

4

Taking the job on

We set the next steps in motion: quote, roller pickup and work in the shop.

Questions about on-site service

What territory does Soremag travel to? +

We serve Greater Montreal and Laval, all of Quebec, Ontario and the Maritimes. For a remote site, contact us : we evaluate the trip based on the urgency and the number of rollers to look at.

What exactly do you do during a plant visit? +

Three things: on-site diagnosis and inspection of the rollers; the measurement survey and dimension taking needed to prepare a quote or a reverse engineering job; and troubleshooting or emergency response to reduce downtime.

Can you take dimensions without the original drawing? +

Yes. We measure the dimensions, the diameter, the length, the profile and the hardness on site, then rebuild the drawing by reverse engineering, even with no drawing at all.

Do you offer emergency service? +

Yes. When a line is down, we make the visit a priority so we can quickly assess the situation on site and set the right solution in motion — repair, recovering or replacement.

After the visit, what happens next? +

We give you an assessment and a recommendation, then we prepare the quote. The work (recovering, grinding, metal repair) is done in the shop; pickup and delivery are available.
